How to use the countdown
Choose the date you're counting down to and, if it matters, the time. The countdown runs live in your browser and shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining in your own time zone. Give it a name, such as "Vacation" or "Exam", to keep track of what you're waiting for. The default is midnight on the next New Year's Day.
Below the clock you'll see the number of calendar days left, the same time in weeks, the total hours and how many weekdays fall in between, which is handy when you're counting the working days before a deadline or the school days before a holiday.
How the countdown is calculated
Time left = target date and time − current date and time
The difference is split into whole days (24 hours each), then hours, minutes and seconds. "Calendar days left" counts midnights instead: on 14 October, Christmas Day is 72 calendar days away, even late in the evening when fewer than 72 × 24 hours remain.

Choose 1 January of next year as the target. The calculator shows the weeks and days left; on 14 October, for example, it's 79 days, or 11 weeks and 2 days.
Can I count down to a past date?
